Understanding Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder is a condition which causes stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint. The capsule tissue surrounding the shoulder becomes inflamed and tightens causing pain, loss of movement and the inability to complete day-to-day activities.

How can we help?

Our goal is to educate our patients about frozen shoulder and give advice on how they can manage symptoms at home. Using mobilisations, soft tissue release and mobility exercises we can support with aiding recovery and improving quality of life.

Common Causes
  • Significant trauma

  • Prolonged immobility affecting shoulder joint mobility e.g. surgery.

Signs & Symptoms
  • Pain

  • Stiffness

  • Limited range of motion in the shoulder

  • Impact on daily activities

Risk Factors
  • Slightly more common in females

  • Aged over 40 to 60

  • Diabetes or Thyroid issues
